About Rob Lauer
A Life of Service
SPC. Robert Lauer
Rob Lauer was born April 6, 1970 and adopted at birth. Raised by a family that
stressed service as honorable and dutiful, Rob has lived his life committed to volunteerism.
Rob served on the student senate while in college and studied political science at
the University of Southern California. Rob studied military science while serving as an officer
cadet in the Army Reserves until federal budget cuts forced an end
to his military service in 1993.
While at USC, Rob began his civilian career in real estate with the founding of
Lauer Properties. Rob worked in commercial and residential redevelopment, winning him acclaim from
local government as a community leader. He cleaned up neighborhoods full of drugs and gangs.
Also during college, Rob interned on Capitol Hill for Congressman Duncan Hunter,
House Armed Services Committee Chairman, and served as a member of President George H.W.
Bush’s advance team in the 1992 election.
Over the years, Rob volunteered for numerous congressional candidates and other
public officials. He joined the Rotary club, Lincoln Clubs, Chamber of Commerce and many other
public service organizations.
In 2005, Rob responded to the Army’s need for volunteers by enlisting in the
US Army. Rob graduated from Basic Training in August 2005 and joined the 314th MP Company. Shortly
thereafter, Rob graduated from the US Army’s Military Police school and became an MP.
In January 2008, Rob volunteered to serve in Iraq, but was unable to complete his
duty due to an injury he sustained. He was flown to USC Spine Center where he underwent back
surgery. Three months later, Rob applied to return to his unit in Iraq but the Army denied his
request due to his recent injury. So, Rob joined the McCain campaign and worked for almost three
months until the election.
In 2009, Rob decided to run for elected office and launched his campaign for Nevada Secretary of State.
