ACORN Types Standing on Street Corners with Laptops Instead of Pencils.

September 2nd, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Yesterday Secretary of State Miller announced a new program to allow anyone to register to vote online for the first time here in Nevada. Rob Lauer is today announcing he plans to file a law suit in Federal Court under the Help America Vote Act to stop the online voter registration program in its tracks unless picture IDs are required at the polls when these people vote. Currently under state law voters are not required to show any form of ID to vote here in Nevada. Lauer said “After the mess we saw in Minnesota and the ACORN fraud here two years ago I find it irresponsible to allow anyone to register to vote online without common sense security measures at the polls. Miller’s program allows ACORN types standing on street corners with laptops instead of pencils. Requiring people to provide their driver’s license online to register does not solve the threat of voter fraud at the polls. If we require voters to show a Government issued picture ID at the polls then this program will have my full support.”

The Karla Rodriguez Child Protection Act and findkarla.com

Just a few weeks ago, I had the unique honor of meeting one of the most extraordinary families I have ever known.  I was watching the news and saw a story about the tenth anniversary of a kidnapped child who has never been found and her case has run cold.  The story struck me, and I decided to reach out to the family to offer my help.

The Rodriguez family has suffered ten long years without little Karla, who was just seven years old when she was kidnapped from her Las Vegas neighborhood. They will never give up hope that Karla will return, and I have decided to do whatever I can to help bring this child back to her family. This week, with the Rodriguez family by my side, I announced my plan to pass the Karla Rodriguez Child Protection Act.  We also launched a new website, findkarla.com, in an effort to generate new leads in the case.  Visitors to the site can submit tips, read about Karla, and sign the Karla Rodriguez Child Protection Act petition.  The petition is a show of support for passing new legislation that allows capital punishment for child rape and kidnapping.

Please share your support of the Rodriguez family by visiting findkarla.com.  Their pain is enormous, but their bravery and determination to find Karla is even greater.  I am humbled by their support and inspired by their courage.  Join us in our effort to save children and bring Karla home.

Laughlin deserves a representative that shows up

December 7th, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

This past Friday I did what the other two contenders in the race for District 3 so far have refused to do — I went to Laughlin. This was my first trip to the border town, and what a remarkable little community. The people are civic-minded and have some important issues that desperately need representation at the federal level.

I started my day at Channel 2 for an on-air sit-down with Bruce Clark. We discussed everything from Afghanistan to the debate over Laughlin’s potential for cityhood. I had a terrific time and truly appreciate the hospitality from the folks at KLBC Channel 2.

Then we headed over to American Legion Post 6o to talk with the Laughlin Economic Development Corporation. I spoke for a few moments and took questions for a few hours. We discussed national issues like the healthcare debate going on in Washington and the conditions in Iraq, plus I received a ton of feedback from them about their unique local issues. I was stunned that these folks have NEVER had the opportunity to talk to Dina Titus or Joe Heck about these issues or anything else. When I’m representing District 3, Laughlin will have a representative.

Thanks again to all who came out, asked questions, sparked debate and shared support. I’ll be seeing you all soon!

Las Vegas Review Journal – “A man who calls himself “a conservative first, a Republican second” is the latest to jump into the race for the congressional seat held by Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev.

Real estate investor Rob Lauer said he’s the best person to carry the conservative torch against Titus, even though former state Sen. Joe Heck is considered the leading Republican in the race.”
